Designer mules that stay on your feet
The open back is what makes a mule easy to wear, and also what makes it hard to get right. The mules at Amelira are made to the same specification as the boutique version, so the vamp holds the foot the way it should, with the same leather, satin and suede uppers and the same hand-finished soles, at a price below retail. You will find pointed stiletto mules, block-heel mules, flat leather mules and open-toe styles for summer.
Toe and heel shapes
A pointed toe with a slim heel is the evening mule and lengthens the leg. A square toe with a block heel is the daytime pick and walks comfortably on pavements. Flat mules with a closed almond toe are the easiest to pair with jeans and suit a trip where you want one shoe for everything.
Walking in a mule
Choose your usual size and resist sizing up; a mule that is too long lets the heel slide. Keep the first few wears to short walks so the vamp shapes to your foot. A rubber sole protector on a leather sole gives better grip on polished floors.
