Designer flats for all-day wear
A flat has to work harder than a heel, because you wear it for longer. The flats at Amelira are made to the same specification as the boutique version, with the same leather and satin uppers, the same cushioned insoles and the same hand-finished soles, and they are priced below retail. The edit covers ballet flats, pointed skimmers, strapped Mary Janes, mesh evening flats and leather loafer-flats.
Comfort comes from the sole
Look at the sole as closely as the upper. A thin leather sole looks elegant but gives little cushioning; a stacked rubber sole or a padded insole is better for commuting and travel. Flats with a slight 1–2 cm heel reduce fatigue in the arch and still read as flat.
Styling flats
Pointed flats sharpen tailored trousers and straight jeans. Ballet flats with a bow soften a tweed jacket or a denim skirt. Mary Janes suit socks and tights in winter. Mesh and embellished flats are now accepted for evening and are far easier to dance in than heels.
